How To Sharpen Pen Blank Barrel Trimmers

– Posted in: Videos

Sharp tools always work better, so I thought I’d share the process I use to sharpen my barrel trimmers. The credit card size diamond stones are the perfect size for the little cutters, so I’m really glad I picked some up.

I got my diamond stone set on Amazon for around $30. Here’s a direct link to them if you’d like to get some:

They also work really well for sharpening carbide cutters as well. Make sure to check out Chad Schimmel’s video on sharpening carbide cutters too. It will save you a ton of money if you sharpen those up.

Zac, just wanted to say thanks for the vid on sharpening the barrel trimmer. I was having some problems with mine, sharpened it as you instructed, now it is so sharp I have to turn it by hand or it cuts too fast. Thanks again

That’s great to hear Bob! I know how terrible those things work when they are dull. Glad to hear that it helped out 🙂
