A faux burl with a camo swirl mix of green, brown, and black resin. These are great to re-cast for handles, wine stoppers, or even pen blanks. Not even a bad gift idea on it’s own, but I do recommend touching up the sharp edges first.
Made with 100% Alumilite, they turn like butter. These faux burl chunks measure approximately 5″ x 1.75″. Price is for one faux burl chunk. Check out the video below to see more details and an example of recasting it to make a bottle opener handle.
For best recasting results, I recommend applying denatured alcohol to the burl surface and giving it a light scrub with a plastic bristle brush to remove any surface contaminants that could cause bonding issues. The spikey surface has a good amount of texture to it though and should adhere fine with another resin pour. I also recommend heating up the burl chunk before casting to reduce surface tension and flash off any surface moisture from the air.
